Unfortunately, even a layman like me will notice that the head of the left fibula is broken off and dangling well away from the rest of the fibula:

My brother-in-law the orthopedic surgeon confirmed my incredulous suspicions:

"The fibula is fractured and remains unfixed and out of place, that sharp bit is the fractured edge of the fibula head."

This undermined my confidence in the assurance after the xrays that everything is just fine.

Luckily, my brother-in-law wrote to reassure me:

"We never fix that in this context.. It is not structurally important and it should not change your activity and rehabilitation in any way."

But I still wish that someone had told me that it's normal to have a broken foot-and-a-half-long bone in my leg.
