So, it sounds like the doctor is using his personal computer for the database. I think that is always a bad idea. Not saying it is the problem.
RAM is important, but you had the same RAM. I know it is slightly more RAM hungry, but I doubt it is the RAM. Can't hurt to upgrade the main computer with more RAM. It is cheap.
Just a thought, but the previous version worked. Why not have AC take you back to that version. The updates are rather easy to find. Just bring up Windows updates and go through the recent ones.
I can tell you something else to try later. I don't think Win 10 will help much. I would seriously consider at least getting a separate computer for the database. You can even make sure it is a bit more powerful with a better processor and more RAM. AMD is making some killer processors now that are more powerful and less expensive than the i9 that are coming out, if not already out.
