But, you can't connect data like that in real time. For instance, if I use LogMeIn from home, I would be using AC from the work computer. Even if I were typing on a program on my home computer that was connected to the database over the VPN or LogMeIn, the data would be going to the AC on the work program and its database and would be dependent on the work connection to its database.
