The Brother MFC 8600 does convert to PDF. I think it defaults to TIF but one can convert easily to PDF. I have had a little time to play around with my new machine. I can take an incoming refill request from a pharmacy, use the Paperport software tools to check the number of refills, digitally sign the request and fax it right back. I am then moving the file into a shared folder within Paperport currently labeled "REFILLS" with a subfolder called "April 2008". I plan to keep them there for 60 days and then delete them. So far so good with this machine.
