Someone from AC will have to weigh in to speak to their limitations, but we always install Updox Central in our Managed Environment unless the client declines Updox.
It sometimes requires a small amount of tinkering with configuration values to optimize the install, but most moves from local AC to managed AC that include Updox happen over night and are transparent to the practice.
