Even though I think that T.O. played with Jeff Garcia and possible Steve Young, Joe did have the benefit of having John Taylor, Roger Craig, Dwight "The Catch" Clark and that guy...what's his name...shoot...ummm, oh yeah Jerry Rice, the greatest wide receiver of all time (Randy Moss, notwithstanding). How could one account for Roger Craig (who coming out of the backfield was second to none) when you had those receivers on the field. And, even Wilson was someone you could throw to.

Bill Walsh also invented the West Coast Offense when an assistant with Paul Brown, a coach who I think was fairly decent himself. smile And, Coach Walsh invented the 15 to 25 scripted offense plays to start the game.

Joe Montana, even in this environment, won four Super Bowl titles, 3 Super Bowl MVP awards and two AP NFL MVPs, all without the luxury of a Janet Jackson halftime show. So, yes, he was the best ever.
