LogMeIn also has another application, called Hamachi, which is a secure VPN that allows a computer outside your office LAN to connect through the internet to a "gateway computer" in the office. The outside computer can then function the same way as an office client (ie, log into the AC main computer database), and run AC as if the outside computer was actually on the office LAN.

There is both a free & paid version. Hamachi allows a mobile computer at home or at the hospital, or even a satellite office, to work in real time with the main AC database. I have tried it from home several times, and the speed is quite acceptable with my home & office broadband connection. Obviously, my experience is limited -- try the free version (works with up to 16 clients) before depending on Hamachi for a satellite office with multiple workstations. Hamachi is very workable in my area, however, since local cable bandwidth is now up to 50/5.

The initial install instructions were a little unclear on my first attempt, so feel free to PM me if you install it & have questions. It has been very reliable since installation; all I do now is open AC on my home computer and log in.
