Does anybody know if there is a way that you can import items into the chart and choose not to have the provider sign off besides using the "NON-Medical Info (No Sign off required)"? We have many items that we don't want called Non-Medical that have already been signed off by the provider on paper and just need scanned into the chart under the correct item type. Our providers then feel they are duplicating their work by signing off again electronically. Thanks.

Import using the licensed provider's log in. Those don't need to,be further signed.

We are scanning in our old charts. We created a user with provider status we named "Dr Chartscan". All stuff being scanned in already has been signed off and that way the providers don't have to sign them off again when it's imported.

Those are good ideas. However, is there a problem with creating another user with provider status and licensing with AC? We had a nursing box created and it kept saying we had more providers than users and needed to contact AC for another license. Nobody from AC tracked us down or anything but I wasn't sure if we should do it differently or not. Thanks.

Robynne, You should not have a problem creating such an extra provider; AC has been open-minded about the creation of "phantom" providers who are not seeing patients, creating notes, and prescribing. (This type of thinking is typical of AC; from what I hear, it is not the case with some other EMR's).
So the above ideas are fine, but other options to consider for your situation: 1. If you use Updox, you can more easily "toggle" to import items without requiring sign off. 2. You might consider the possibility of changing your workflow. You have not said how the providers come to be signing off on paper items before they are imported, but you might want to change the flow so that the items first are scanned and then are consistently signed-off electronically within AC.

Jon, The papers that are being signed first and scanned later are because they need a physician signature or it is a copy of our EKG that doesn't interface with AC, L&I (workmen's comp) forms that need filled out and sent back or any other forms required by insurance companies, nursing homes, etc. I have looked into using Updox but at the time we were just starting AC and I wanted to get up and running with AC before adding more software. I guess it is about time that I researched Updox again and make some workflow changes.
Thanks for your advice.
