Can you please advise if there is a sent folder that keeps a record of messages I send to others in the office? I am unable to locate one. This I find to be a very useful and important tool. There have been a few times that the message sent was accidently erase and there is important info that was recorded!!

On you messages window when loading AC you will see an 'Inbox' drop down in the upper left corner, just to the right of the patient list. Click the down button, 'Inbox' is an option.
You can click on any message and retrieve it back to your inbox if you've accidentally sent it to the wrong staff member. BUT, I believe restarting AC will wipe out your 'Sent' box and will clear your 'Deleted' box.

Ben,
You have completely confused me.
Do you mean, Outbox is an option? Click on it and then click on any message and retrieve it back to your inbox. Restarting AC will wipe out your deleted box, but I can't find a Sent box.

I reviewed the information above. I noticed that there are only "2" items in the "outbox". I sent about 10 items to the dr. yesterday and he accidently deleted a couple that I need to retreive. Based on what I see, the "outbox" only has messages that have not been retrieved by the receiver.
My suggestion is to have a "sent" folder for all messages sent. Something simular to an email sent folder that holds all sent messages until the "sender" deletes them.
Our office finds this would be a VERY useful tool and our experience is that we really NEED this option.

I agree that it would be useful, but you should use the SUGGEST IMPROVEMENTS button in the AC Program. Until something better you should make a dummy account and cc every e-mail there at least until A) they get a sent box or B) you train your doctor not to delete things.......LOL

I guess that would be helpful, and I certainly can't judge your situation. I would love to have AC's setup in email so I could retrieve the email I sent.
If the recipient deletes it, they can still go to their deleted items folder and retrieve the email. I suppose you just have to train them to not delete them.
The workaround could be in two ways with pros and cons for both. You could create a user named sent and then copy all your messages to that folder. If the user were User A, let's say, the pro would be it would be your sent box, but then you would get a large number of users in the drop down box. If you just had one user that everyone copied to, that would not be an issue, but the "sent" messages would all be mixed together. Of course, the other downside would be that you would have to copy messages.
From experience on the board, you are not likely to get your wish.

Sorry, both sent at once. Great minds think alike. Again, I don't know your situation, but in six years of using the program, no one has ever once said that a sent box would be helpful.
I don't say that to belittle your needs, I just say that to indicate that it may become easier as you go along. One thing you may want to know. There didn't use to be a deleted folder until v4 I believe. That was a huge improvement.

To try to clarify a little: I think Ben did mis-speak a couple of times in his response above. As Bert said/Ben meant...
One of the choices below "Inbox" in the messages is "Outbox". Another is "Deleted items". I believe items stay in your "Deleted items" folder until you restart AC; even simply logging out will clear that folder. I believe items stay in your "Outbox" until the recipient has deleted them (just opening them still leaves them in your "Outbox").
So you are right, there is no reliable "Sent" folder that you can go back to in case the recipient has BOTH inadvertently deleted your message AND logged off.
If this is really a recurring problem for you, I would suggest sending messages to more than one place. There are several ways to implement this, depending on your office. For example: what always works (but is tedious) is to create a "dummy" recipient/staff box, and always cc: messages to that box. On the other hand, if you only have one provider in the office, set up a dummy provider, and have everyone get in the habit of sending messages to "all providers" (that's is just one click, unlike the cc: approach I just mentioned). Have your provider use his provider box as his inbox.
Sounds complicated, but it really isn't too bad...but yes, it is a work around and a more robust messager would be nice.

Sorry, both sent at once. Great minds think alike. Times 2...or 3. As to Stephen's suggestion, (train your provider not to delete the wrong items)... no one has trained me yet, so I won't suggest it to others.

Everything stated by JBS is true. Since I rarely sign out, I never it deleted all the items. Personally, I don't think the deleted items should be deleted when ANYONE closes AC or logs out. You can set Outlook to do that (although I don't), but at least you have control.
After thinking about it, A) since I rarely CC myself and since, B) people rarely CC me, I think given the issue of having multiple fake users and more of them in the drop down box which creates clutter, why not CC it to yourself. You then have a list of CCs, which can be deleted later.
