I would like to see in the note which pharmacy the Rx was sent to

I hope that the next version will also include the big mail away companies, like Medco, Carmark, Express Scripts, Rx Solutions, etc.

Medco is in there - search for Medco - it comes up as fax only. Erx on your end and fax on theirs - this meets requirements for you as ERx but I think you will find Medco, Caremark, etc all want to make it as hard as they can for you to find them so they do not have to pay for Erxs.....I have found many of them, but they list different addresses from the ones on their form or their forms do not list any physical address only a fax - this is so you cannot figure out where to erx them.

Ok so the fax only works?

What were the other ones under, and were you successful in sending scripts?

you can also search for express scrips (check spelling)without a town or state and then you will find them. I did get them to go through - it is a pain. Otherwise I fax them.

I used Allscripts ePrescribe for some time, and despite it being billed as the devil incarnate for an EHR, the free, standalone prescribing module had some good features, and I prefer it to the AC version. It had an alert that an ERx did not go through (no digging through NewCropScreens), the ability to mix paper printed and ERx's with controlled substances only allowing printing, and a much more robust preferred pharmacy, with the ability to choose either a preferred mail order pharmacy (which came up under a separate drop down list to make finding them easier) or a local pharmacy, and mixing them if desired without having to enter separate Rx's. One push of the "send" button and it was all done. It is web based, and I can access it from any computer or operating system and my i-Phone. If it integrated with AC I would go back to it in an instant.

Is Amazing Charts eRx certified by medicare's new standards so the we can get the 3% medicare bonus starting this year?

From what I've read it only meets two of the four criteria. The two its laking are that you can't see the formulary for a certain insurance and you can't price compare to get the lower cost meds.

Am I missing something? Is there a plan to fix this so that current users can get the bonus? What are other people doing, are they using another module for eRx?

Formularies and prices are easily found under ePocreates online in the prescription writer. Whether that counts or not, I can't tell you. The forumlary info is definitely there.

I also don't know if it has to be done within the confines of the program.

Does anyone know if the functionality has to be self contained in one program or if you can access other programs from within AC to get the info?

I read a summary sheet from medicare and it didn't address these questions.

That is an excellent question.

On one hand, it would seem like "cheating" given it isn't very hard to have a tab on the script writer which links to ePocrates. Maybe if you get a discount or something like that. Or if the link allowed ePocrates to leave something in your note.

Otherwise, I don't see how it is any different than putting a shortcut to ePocrates on your desktop.

I wish the printed scripts didn't have the info about AC at the bottom. If that wasn't there I think 3 would fit on a page.

I don't have that at the bottom anymore. Which version are you using. In landscape mode, you can get four scripts to a page.

Maybe they changed it on 5.0.29. Are you printing landscape or portrait?

Change to landscape unless there are times you need to print as a portrait as with an SPS800 printer. Then, you may get FOUR scripts on a page!

AC at least qualifies for last years e-prescribing bonus. I just my check for last year and it was really nice to have.

I submitted codes with my charges last year and we got a check from medicare that didn't contain a regular with patient names and medicare said it was for the e-prescribing bonus. I missed the PQRI last year but got a nice medicare check for the year before. I am doing PQRI this year thru a registry.

DO's can do PQRI through their national association - last year it was free, this year it costs about $200 (nice investment if your PQRI total is $2,000). You should check with your state and/or national association - AAFP, MAFP, etc.

P.S. I know this because I am a DO - although I have not gotten paid yet, still waiting.
