Even since we update to AC V4, there are problems with ICD codes. With V4.048, adding a code like 327.23 Obstructive Sleep Apnea to the Assessment/Problem list was fine. However, only the code number (i.e., 327.23) with no description (Obstructive Sleep Apnea)appeared when we ordered a test.

With the new AC V4.073, the problem is even worse. The code 327.23 does not even exists. We cound noy even add it manually. I know that the problem is not in the Codes Database because 327.23 is not missing. The problem is probably in the Amazingcharts Database Tuner. It seems to create problem or corrupt our AC database. I have call and contact support line multiple times, there is no satisfactory answer. One tech said that there is also a bug that prevent adding or modifying the ICD code in V4.073.

My problem is 50% of my patient carry that diagnosis. We just pay the newly increased price of AC update and the customer service seems to be too busy to handle the problem or call me back. Please help!!

I have used that diagnosis and code. I started with typing:

obst... and is comes up with code and description in the list.

Not sure why it's not working for you.

I used to work. It also works before we loaded our tuned AC database into the server. That means the bug is in the tuned data not in the Codes database. Can you manually change or add your ICD codes?

Add a "new" ICD code by adding a zero to the end of the old code (327.230). Yeah I know, that's not fixing the problem, but it works.

Try going into a pt with that diagnosis and doing the following:

Enter their summary and inactivate the code.
Open a new note and go in to try to search for the code and add to the diagnosis.
It will probably then say this code is already in their list do you wish to add it? Hit yes and now see if the note has it.
Sometimes there is a bug that gets the dx codes mixed up and only if you add it new again will it show up.

If this doesn't work - I am out of suggestions.
Sorry - let me know if this works.
I ran into this with an earlier version when 401.9 got mixed up.

Hi John and Steven,

Truly appreciate your help. Your suggestions are much more constructive than what I got from the AC support service. The way Steven suggested did not work because I could not search 327.23 or Obstructive Sleep Apnea from the code search window at all. The way John suggested did work. But, it will probably affect the ability to search all patients with obstructive sleep apnea in the future. If the support service does not help me to fix the corrupted data, I may try John's way.

I don't understand - when I search 327.23 it immediately brings up OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA (ADULT) (PEDIATRIC)

I am using the newest version 4.073. I would write to carlos@amazingcharts.com and ask him directly -maybe you need to update your codes.

I finally got AC tech support's attention. Dan, one of their techs uploaded my practice data 3 days ago. They admitted that their is a bug. It affected a few other groups too. It seems that there will be problem if you have modified the description of the code in the past. We changed 327.23 "Obstructive Sleep Apnea" to 327.23 "OSA-Obstructive Sleep Apnea" years ago under the Access version. This can help the docs to pull this code easily. Just like "COPD-Chronic Obstructive Bronchitis w/o exacerbation". With the updates, bugs came up. Hopefully they can fix it in the coming AC V5.
The reason I like AC is that they are open to suggestions and they admit that they could have bugs and need feed back and improvements. The first few times we call for help, the answers are totally irresponsible, beating around the brush, wasting time. I do appreciate all your help and suggestions. Will wait for V5.
