If you're at all technically inclined you can do this update by yourself without IT. The recently published procedure is simpler and much less risky than the previous one. Significantly!!!.
You just need to be careful and use the new one..not the old prior one..some people downloaded the older one locally when the links were available and are not reading the instructions and are having problems. It's not that the old one was bad...it just did many more things that creates the opportunity for problems if the planets aren't all aligned and you can imagine what we have out there to deal with.
