I'm using 3.18. Works fine. Oh, Hockeyref, I suspect that the only way to turn it off is to uninstall it. I know that sounds stupid, but that is the same problem that I had when I installed the Fujitsu 5110C. Actually, I think what you see on the screen would be the default s/w for the scanner unless you had s/w like you have installed. You can also install different s/w and possibly select that as a default. Try going into the control panel/scanners screen and see if you can select a specific s/w package to activate when the "scan" function is activated.
