Zone Alarm is pretty good firewall. Very popular too (but that doesn't really mean anything). I just use Zone Alarm Pro. Not their full Internet Security package. That's because I'd read how good Avast! was as a anti-viral package.

ZA is easy to install and use. It does spyware scanning too. Every few days my system is scanned and some stuff is taken off.

There is some type of compatibility issue between ZA and Avast, but they will work.
