OK, first question. Is there a VPN between your new office and the main office?
Are you trying to remote to a client PC or the server? No you don't need different software. In fact, you have to pay for the pro version of LMI in order to print remotely. TeamViewer is good for taking over someone's computer for support, and it can be used, but I would not use either of those. Windows allows RDC and works best with it.
It's easier to help if you give the logistics. For instance, I would say, "Running eight clients on Lenovos with Win 7 Pro all connected via switch to an SBS 2008 Server. All are 64-bit. Switch gets to Internet through a Cisco Pix 501 firewall and Time-Warner modem. Software firewall is Windows Firewall with all ports necessary open. Firewall does not stop scripts when sitting at the computer. Antivirus software is Microsoft Security Essentials. Never been an issue.
