Tried what you suggested:
Opened a patient file, clicked on "Search ICD9s", clicked on "Add Codes".
Without selecting a diagnosis, I just entered in
"COTNERIASIS" (307.54)
and what I get is
"That code already exists. Please edit the code description rather than enter it again."
