HealthObama, the best possible scenario is that you only have a single instance of SQL Server installed. An Instance of SQL Server can "contain/hold" multiple databases. There should never be a need for each application that has a SQL Server Database to install it's own instance. The end result, of running mult8iple server instances will be a negative impact on performance.
