HO,

I belive you could spec out a Dell server and possibly get it cheaper at New Egg, etc., but I can't say enough for buying a server directly from Dell or buying a Dell or HP with a three year on site warranty. The support I get from Dell is beyond great and, if your server goes down and you have no idea why, it is nice to have a Dell support tech or HP support tech at your office in the specified time in your warranty with the parts to fix it. That happened to me last year, and the guy was here in under three hours, installed a new RAID card, and the server was up and running by lunch time.

I don't know...it's up to you. I don't know, Steven may have a good setup with support, but I really don't feel comfortable with a purchase from one place and a warranty from another.

Again, Steven, may have purchased a Dell server and got a warranty through Dell. I know there are all sorts of 3rd party servers; some build their own. But, from my perspective, and I am not a built it myself expert, Dell and HP are kind of the industry standard. Especially in your situation given you are asking this question.
