Is the Updox Patient Portal Charge new? AC sent email, notes $395 for patient portal. Is this a yearly charge or was it a one-time charge when I first got Updox? It says all products are billed annually. I don't recall having to pay this before in recent years. With the monthly charge for Updox, you might expect Updox would be covering a portal charge.

Same here. This is confusing. I also do not remember a charge for "updox portal". I pay updox monthly and do not remember paying for a portal fee to AC. This will need to be explained.

I checked with our sales department on this. The $395 yearly charge is for the Amazing Charts Patient Portal. This charge would only apply if you do NOT have the patient portal through Updox Premium (directly through Updox). If you are already paying for the patient portal through Updox, you should not be charged this charge.

If you do not have Updox Premium but still want the patient portal, then the $395/year ($33/month) would apply.

If you find you are getting charged for the patient portal despite having the portal through Updox, you can reach out to our accounting department at accounting@amazingcharts.com for clarification.

Mark, thanks, but when I checked my invoice for Updox it only says unlimited electronic fax fee, nothing mentioned about "Premium" or AC Portal, and I do not recall if this was ever described as "Premium". So, I do not know if your answer applies to me. I have used Updox with AC for years to file and send faxes and other information to and from patient charts, so apparently I have the portal. The question is, if we have been using Updox with Amazing Charts for all this time, has something changed in the billing arrangement? I think this is the first time I have seen a charge for an Updox Portal on AC site, so this implies a change. Using Updox as the fax server for the office, integrated with Amazing Charts is now necessary for information management, and any interruption must be avoided. Surprise $400 charges are also best avoided....

I gave up on Updox patient portal years ago. Unless it's been upgraded it was a pain. Worst feature was you manually had to ok a password change and I had a very senior patient who apparently never wrote down her PW and every 4 days we got an email request to reset. Has it gotten better?
I started using IntakeQ for basic forms, PHQ-9, psychiatric rating scales, intake forms, release of info. It has a patient portal that's nice but it doesn't integrate with AC and you have to manually input patient info.
So is the Updox portal any better?

Thanks to Shrinkrap I have just realized that I conflated the Patient Portal, which I do not use, with just basic interaction between Updox and AC for filing. Mea culpa. However, the information provided by all involved was useful and I will add thanks for this to the Holiday table blessing. Merry Christmas!

I am glad - I found this thread. Updox is charging us $180 every month. I would be glad to pay yearly via amazing charts. We are not using any features other than Patient portal . I would appreciate if you could let me know how I can pay lower amount via amazing charts
Thanks in advance for the advice .
Thanks

IMHO there has been confusion about the two "types" of Updox (the one that comes with AC and the other one we purchase from Updox).
The similarities and differences have never been clear.

It sounds like there is a pricing difference - it would be nice for some one at AC to lay out what you get with each, and what the relative costs are.
