Good Morning! Let me say first, we do not use Updox so that is not an option. Is there a way to send a patients full medical record to another provider without printing entire chart and then mailing or faxing (to a secure fax of course!).
There is an option to export the full chart to a PDF file. Search the patient on the patient list and then right click on the name. In the options, select "Print - Formal Health Record". Fill out the HIPAA Release, and then check off the sections you want included in this record. Once done, click "Preview". This will generate a preview of the document. On the top left of the screen is a button that looks like a box with an arrow coming out of it. Click on that, select the location you want to export the file to, and change the "Save as Type" field from Crystal Reports" to "PDF"... then click save.
This will export that document to the location of your choosing (if you are on cloud, make sure you path it to your desktop, not the cloud desktop). You can then send the file using any method you like (just make sure it is HIPAA compliant).

That's great. We have used a program called PDFredirect which will combine the sections into one document and even encrypt it. This is more straightforward. Then use a program call PDFfill to encrypt if it is going by email to be HIPPA compliant. Both are free to use in professional environments but PDFredirect Professional is only $19.95 and PDFfill has a number of upgraded programs that are inexpensive but neither are obtrusive. I have NO financial interest in either program

The patient's expectation is that you have all the answers, sometimes they just don't like the answer you have for them
We obviously send the entire chart to lawyers. I do redact things and just state there was a redaction and there is the original record at the office. Never been hurt by that. We also do NOT send messages to other doctors or parents, etc.

I tried this and when I get to the "Save as Type", the choices are: HTML Text Unicode HTML Unicode Text
There is no "Crystal Reports" and I cannot force the field to save as PDF.
The option will not work if you are printing a single chart from the past encounters (it only gives the option for text). This option only works when exporting a Formal Health Record, or printing exports by date.

New to this thread, and haven't posted in a while... I have to side with Ed. I followed your instructions to a T, and I'm using AC in the cloud... when you click the box for imported items, a bunch of different pdf windows pop up, and only options for Unicode, text, etc are available as file types. There is no way to generate a unified, single PDF document containing both the AC records and all the imported items to my knowledge, other than to ask AC support to generate a folder containing all the Imported ITems for a given pt and send it to me.... I'm curious about Wendell's use of PDFRedirect and how that actually works...

Unfortunately no. There is no way to combine all the PDF's into one document. With the cloud, you would either have to print/download them individually or have support get you the files directly from the AC directory.

No it can't. That's an AC thing. I wish it could do that too!
But another faster way might be to navigate to that patient's Imported Items folder on your sever, select all the PDFs, right-click, and depending on your PDF software, there may be an option that says "combine PDFs." Of course, this will included all the scanned items, including all the "non-medical" items.
I added a screenshot of what ours would look like.
