I apologize if this issue has been addressed previously. I just updated AC to 9.2.0. In the past I have always paid the annual user fee for 2 high level providers (me and my optometrist). However, ever since I started using AC, I always had a third mid level provider (Nursing) that my staff could use solely to scan miscellaneous, non-medical related items into the chart without me having to sign off every little item. With the update, I received a warning that I have 3 providers, but am only paying for 2. So, in an attempt to be consciencious, I switched my Nursing log-in to medium level, and now everything that is scanned in under Nursing has to be signed off. My in box is bombarded with sign-off items. I understand the importance of chart items being reviewed by the MD, especially labs, consults and imaging studies. My staff is very well trained and anything not related to the day-to-day business operation of the practice is sent to me for review. I am sure you all deal with this. Is there any work around? I think it is reasonable to have an administrative option that could be selected in the import items window that would allow staff to import items and select if it needs to be reviewed and signed off or not. Just venting...

There is an option in Admin Options that lets the admin sign off on all imported items. This is under "Tools" in Admin. This function allows the admin to exclude lab and radiology results from the mass sign off as well.

This is the only workaround I know of for not signing off on items.

Thanks Mark. That worked nicely! I will see if anyone else has any other suggestions. Would be nice if it never made it to my in box.

If they are truly non-medically relevant your staff has the OPTION to select a category of Non Medically relevant (on the top) and this will import it to the chart without having you sign off. We're also going to add an option in the next release so the user importing the document can specify that the document does not require a provider signature so you can import documents into other categories(FOLDERS)

Chris -- It will be great if you add an option in the next release so the user importing the document can specify that the document does not require a provider signature. The Non Medically Relevant category allows import w/o sign-off, but if those items are moved into another category, the sign-off window pops up. Until the next update, I will just continue to do the mass sign-off via Admin options. Thanks.

I think we need to be really careful with this. Until now v. 9, even non-medical category items still needed sign off although it said No Sign off Required (it was a bug). I have cautioned my staff, because now if they put something into the non-medical category, even by mistake, I will never see it. If that was a bad pathology report, and troublesome lab, or other items it could be legally perilous.

A bit more info on how we plan to approach. This is proposed,,not finalized yet but this is where we're heading...First...if you define your own categories you'll have the option to specify during setup as to whether the category requires a sign off or not. For the common system defined categories such as Laboratory, Radiology etc the default will be set to "required". When your staff imports them they'll have a button that will be defaulted to this setting. i.e defaults to required if you specified it as required. They can then make a conscious effort to change the flag to bypass your sig or send it to you if they feel you need to sign it eve if it's set to no. The ability to override that setting will be controlled by a a permissions setting you set for each user. You trust your nurse or MA then you grant them permission. Lack trust in your Scheduler to make that decision then don't grant them that privilege. Don't want to take the chance at all, then don't give anyone permission to utilize the new override option.

Chris C, that sounds terrific. I agree with Chris/Alaska's concern about missing sign-offs, but this type of control is ideal.

By the way, when you say "Until now v. 9, even non-medical category items still needed sign off although it said No Sign off Required (it was a bug)."
Actually, that was never the case for us.
