I have a dell xt-2 that sees the server but explorer stops and won't find the AC folder. I have a peer-to-peer network, and I can see this machine from the server and access shared folders. Also, I can access other shared folders across the network from this pesky computer. The weirdest thing is that I have two other dell xt-2's that are working fine. Any ideas?

Open IE explorer, on the upper right side of browser you will see a gear. Click on this gear and a drop down menu will appear. Select Internet options from this menu and in the box that opens you will see tabs at the top. Click security tab and make sure that "Enable Protected Mode" is unchecked.

I think mkweiss means File Explorer, not IE.

Try this: On each drive on the main computer, right click ->Properties->Security and make sure user "Everyone" is on the list with full permission. If not, click on Edit and check Full.

Went nuclear and reinstalled windows on the Dell. It worked without changing server settings.

My current network setup has Windows 7 Pro workstations. Is Windows 10 Home edition compatible?

Works for me. I have everything Vista on up in the office. When win 10 updates mess up some computers, I am still partly up.

Any other specific windows 10 problems? AC part working ok?

Thinking of upgrading June before the "free" upgrade expires from Windows 7. I'd only use computers that were manufacturer "certified" for win 10 with supported drivers.

Beware of drivers on peripherals. Windows 10 auto loaded over the night on the front office computer (client on p2p). I clicked and let it go forward. AC works fine but my Xerox 162 scanner does not work. Turns out model is discontinued and there are no windows 10 drivers. Ordered new scanner Xerox 152i should here on Thursday. What a mess but something to keep in mind about Windows 10. I still plan on upgrading. My next concern is upgrading the main compute with database.

Sometimes going back to old drivers will work, for example for my EKG machine adapter.

Regarding drivers & Windows 10, some of us using the durable Fujitsu ScanSnap S500 have discovered that the scan software no longer works on Windows 10. Fujitsu plans no upgrade. However, I recently discovered that the SnapScan ix500 software will work for the S500 just fine under Windows 10.

Gary is quite correct regarding being wary of windows 10 automatic upgrade causing problems with older peripherals for which there are no drivers compatible with windows 10. The main problem is windows update KB 3035583. If you see that on your list of updates, right click on it and left click to hide it.

More importantly, Google "GWX Control Panel" (Get Windows 10 Control Panel), install it and run it. Its free. It will Nuc the pesky upgrade reminders in the bottom right of your screen, and prevent the windows 10 upgrade. It gives you the option of updating to windows 10 when you want to.

I know of several people who have had the same problem that Gary did with peripherals such as scanners and printers becoming unusable because no windows 10 driver's are available for them.
