Is the SQL db accessible with a ReadOnly user in the cloud version? Meaning, can I create a connection string to the SQL data, example "https:/server/practice/AMAZINGCHARTS:xxxx"?

The answer is two fold.
<1>Someone from AC will have to provision the data-read user
<2>AC will have to give you the credentials for that account

I have heard differing reports from user experiences in this area, you should report back if you pursue this.

I understand the read-only SQL user, but will AC need to open port(61067) on the VM cloud machine for the SQL access?

That is a theoretical possibility, but far likely they will want you to run from the local instance.

So the odds are better to create a local app and install on the AC Cloud VM versus creating a web app on our server that pulls the read-only data into my web app?
Thanks for your help on this.

Ultimately it will be up to what they allow, but a local app would be the path I recommend.

Have you spoken to them yet?

Not yet. Converting to AC in 2-3 weeks.
