Sent from Allscripts:

As many of you know Express Scripts Mail Order Pharmacy acquired Medco Mail Order Pharmacy last year. Effective January 1, 2014, the Medco Mail Pharmacy NCPDP: 3121504; and Express Scripts Mail Order Pharmacy NCPDP number: 2623735 will be doing business as Express Scripts Home Delivery on the Surescripts network. Surescripts will continue to support electronic New Prescription, Refill Renewal, and Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS). The name in your directory will change from Express Scripts Mail Pharmacy to Express Scripts Home Delivery.

On January 1, 2014 the Legacy Medco Pharmacy entry NCPDP ID 3121504 will also be updated and renamed to reflect the business merger and will show in the directory as Express Scripts Home Delivery. Allscripts will be updating the pharmacy dictionary to reflect these changes. If you do not see Medco updated to Express Scripts Home delivery by mid-January please contact support. Starting January 1, 2014 you should have 1 active Express Scripts Home Delivery entry listed below.

Express Scripts Home Delivery

Prescription of controlled substances through E-prescribing and Surescripts?

How is that?

The entangling noose is getting tighter and tighter.
UnitedHealthcare reportedly just dumped about 10,000 doctors who were contracted with them -- and reportedly, a disproportionate number of them were independents.

I have always thought how great it would be to ePrescribe controlled substances. Actually the Tylenol with codeines and Lunestas would be great. My MAs write about 70% of my stimulants and CIIs, etc. then I just sign them. I don't think they will be able to ePrescribe without a password, etc.

Actually, Allscripts has had ERx of controlled substances for some time. It is not in the free version, but is available with an upgrade to the deluxe version for $20/month. As usual, NewCrop is way behind.

I assumed that we would not get notification from NewCrop of the above merger, and I wanted everyone to know what the correct mail away pharmacy will be as of 1/1. Hopefully, the Surescripts database will be corrected and this information will flow through NewCrop to AC. At least now we know what to look for.
