Hello folks:
1. Are there any Updox users who use the 6.5 beta version ?
2. When I asked Updox the following:
<snip> ... Is it ok to upgrade AC to 6.5?
Here is what I got from Updox
<snip>.. (Updox) will work well with all current production versions of Amazing Charts. Do you know if 6.5 is in beta? I know they have a beta version that some customers are on and by it's nature beta means there are still some bugs to be worked out. There are some know issues using Updox with the beta version of AC. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I've been using it with 6.5.4 (I'm pretty sure that's the version I have on one of the office systems, the other being 7.0.1) and so far Updox has been working fine with both without any major glitches, save for when they're down.

We reluctantly upgraded to v6.5 two days ago out of necessity. Our MAIN/server computer, which used Windows 7, hard drive failed. All other computers in office were Window 8. According to amazing charts IT, the current versions of amazing charts are not compatible with Windows 8. I tried purchasing a new computer with Windows 7 but Office Depot and Best Buy no longer sell Windows 7 computers. Hence, the upgrade to v6.5(it was the only version compatible with Windows 8).
The upgrade has been a nightmare compared to previous upgrades. Every computer in the office required Microsoft Updates which took some time. The day after the upgrade was supposedly successfully installed, it had to be reinstalled which consumed another 5-6 hours of downtime. Now we are having issues with document imports from Updox to AC. Although the Updox connector is "blinking green," documents are not imported into patients' charts or MD's inbox. We are having problem with both Updox and AC responding to our inquiries. Surprisingly, an AC technician stated, "the new AC 6.5 version may not be compatible with Updox." How was this the case when both AC and Updox advertise their compatibility. It's almost impossible to function without both systems being integrated. I upgraded out of necessity but I would not recommend upgrading until more kinks are worked out. Also, completing Microsoft updates in advance of upgrade is a must.

We did the upgrade last weekend. It went smoothly, and so far upDox is working fine.

I haven't had any issues with Updox and version 6.5.4 or with the upgrade to 6.5.5

Not sure if AC installed AC or not, but I think this is part of the reason they recommend making an appointment and having them set it up. They will even do it overnight I believe. Now, you do have to admit your computers should be up to date on Windows Updates anyway, so you can't blame AC on that one. In fact, it's good they point that out. AC versions are compatible with Win 8 as you see as you have all Windows 8 except for the server. It's the SQL Server Express 2005 that isn't compatible. The big box stores like Office Depot have to sell the OEM versions, so they will be first line Win 8. You can get plenty of Win 7 on the Internet and eBay. In fact, I will likely stay with Win 7 for clients for, I hope, years. This is what I have found with AC IT. For troubleshooting, and logging in to your computer and fixing things, they are great. You just have to be careful when they make blanket statements especially about compatibility issues and double especially when something isn't working that they can't fix. Good luck.

I am being forced at gunpoint to retract my previous "All went well" statement. I am out of town and apparently the inaccuracy of the information I had gathered plus my logmein experiences let me to believe things were all working. I just got off the phone from my partner and staff gathered around a speakerphone, all innumerating multiple and diverse issues that are being progressively escalated up the tiers of tech support. So, Y'all, Mea Culpa.
BTW, our installation was done by an Amazing Charts certified tech, so it is not that we messed up on a DIY installation.

David, Could you please clarify: are any of your issues related to Updox or are they all straight AC upgrade issues?

I work for David and have been the one working through most of the upgrade issues, so if you don't mind Jon, I'll answer since David hasn't made it back on. The issues do not involve Updox. I haven't noticed any difficulty between Updox and 6.5.5 as of yet. Amber

Thanks, Amber. Sorry you are having other issues but glad to hear that Updox is not involved.

I am having a problem with all scanned items in Updox showing up twice. This happened after Meg from Updox was online with me Friday and she did something to our scanning pathway. Sorry I have to write this here but Updox is terrible at responding to queries. Anybody have a solution?

Thanks for prompt response-- super prompt response! So, if I uninstall the connector, how are the items going to go into AC? Through Updox Central? I have Updox and AC on a 'server' computer and 10 other computers have both programs and 5 more have just AC on them- no Updox. Just making sure it will work.

A.J., Updox Central fully replaces the previous Updox Connector. So, if you have Updox Central installed, you should be fine. Amber
