I have a lab interface. My front office downloads them every morning. They are sent to me by a message that states"lab".

I open the message and press on the "open chart" icon. Next I go to the "imported items" tab, open the labs, and press "sign off" twice.

In order to tell my nurse to notify the patient of the results, I go back to the message and send her a message on the results.

Is that the most efficient way yo do this?

I am not sure if you use Updox, but what I generally do for normal results or easily explainable abnormals, is import labs and before I sign off type up a letter, send to updox workspace, and then sign off of the labs, then sign the letter in updox and send to patient's portal. Saves my nurse any work, no envelopes or addressing issues or stamps, and patients receive results as soon as I hit the send to portal button.

You can click "sign off" once, then select the message option to tell your nurse to notify the patient of the results. Then click "sign off" the second time.
