I recently converted 16,000+ visits from Talk Notes (Provox) system into Amazing Charts. I wonder if other users of Amazing Charts are interested in converting patient data from other systems into Amazing Charts.
Thanks, Pawel

I was actually going to ask about this very issue. Being a typical "Tim Allen" type of guy, I downloaded AC onto my network, got it talking to my other computers and proceeded to enter some fictitious patients when I decided to read the instructions about importing demographics from my AR Billing program. I read that before using AC, I should have imported all my demographic info first...before entering any patients. Now I've learned, not unlike other experiences (after the fact) that it would have been better to follow the instructions. I also learned that for obvious reasons, I can't delete my fictitious patients names and info. So, Can I still import my other "real" patients without running into problems later (something the instructions state mught happen)? I hate it when i need an Al Borland type to rescue me.

Quickly you can sort of delete your false patients by removing your "full" AC database folder and reoplace it with a new clean empty one. Download a copy of the program to an external harddrive or to your desktop and then copy the appropriate database folders you need to replace. So then you could do a one time import of you real patients from that other program if the two will talk to one another nicely. Have you officially bought AC yet? If yes, then I would call tech support and have them do the import with you for saftey's sake. But yes you can replace any of the folders that are full with empty ones so as to have a nice new clean empty AC. Anybody care to chim in here???

Thanks...I was flirting with a similiar idea. I was just going to rename the original AC database folder and create a new one. I just downloaded the program this weekend to "try out." But everything I've read from this user's board has me leaning in the "just go ahead and buy it category." Bert, and you and BCMD and Vinnymeyer and others are definately strong advocates for the program. It is amazingly easy to use....a flat learning curve as many of you have said. It seems to satisfy what I am looking for primarily. That is, ease of chart flow in the office. Less time looking for charts when patients or others call. I already use Dragon...12 years worth, so my notes were generally done once I left the room. But I currently, I am far from finished with chart, even though my documentation is done. Thanks for your quick response.

Importing patient demographics from other programs is commonly done, and does not have to be hard. I went through the process a few months ago, and hit every possible snag along the way, but persevered, and overcame. For that reason, I think I can now be considered an expert! I would be glad to entertain any questions on this subject. I think the original poster was talking about importing actual notes from another EMR.

Crestondoc:
I played with Amazing Charts for about six weeks, totally messed up all the templates, and entered all kinds of ridiculous nonsense before buying it. There is no limit on the number of free downloads, to my knowledge, so you could break the program into little pieces, if you were able, and always get a fresh copy.
When I bought my own copy of Amazing Charts, I actually did uninstall the test version, and did a completely clean new install to contain my real patient demographic information.
(Of course, I immediately re-created a couple of bogus patients to try things out on. That is actually a very good thing to have).
The Amazing Importer is the tool we get to import demographic files. It is very straightforward to use, as long as the demographic database you are importing is clean and orderly.
My original was not. The demographic file I received from my billing company was a mess, and needed a lot of clean-up. I used Microsoft Access to put it back into place, and it was really not that difficult to do.
Once you have done that, everything pretty much ports straight across.

Thanks for the helpful advice. The install sure was clean and easy. I think I needed to bounce into a snag or two. It actually helps the learning process. This is what I tell my wife whenever I don't get the results I want!
The repeated download function is but another reason that this program is pretty cool. It's almost as if the Doctor who designed AC actually understood how doctors do things! I have been reading many of the current and older posts on this board and I believe that this the most helpful group of people I've come across on a users forum.

Put in a good word with Jon and AC for us when you call and purchase would ya??? Nancy and I are sort of the black sheep of the family as you may have gleamed from reading past posts. But really thanks for all your kind words and yes these guys are great, don't know where we'd be without them. Thanks Gang!!!
BTW: Welcome to AC!!! Gotta run, kids to get and an adult game to do tonight after dinner. Paul
