I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all who helped with this new upgrade to 6.3.3. The improvement in network performance alone is absolutely astounding and removes a significant amount of time waiting for saving or refreshing over the weeks and months. Also the prescribing module remembers the preferred pharmacy! This is a fabulous upgrade that has addressed bottlenecks in network communication and refills and wasted time waiting for the screen to refresh or the next sign-off item to appear. I would give you my first-born but he is married and out of the house... THANK YOU!! THANK YOU !! THANK YOU!! terry

Great to hear you experience Terry. We will install the upgrade this week

The new improvement in speed really turn this around. I was about to replace all the wiring in the office with CAT-6 to try to improve the waiting time, but now I can stay with the older wiring for a while more and change it at a more leisurely pace. Also the improvement on the lab imports is substantial. Now you can type in the first few letters of a name that needs a lab assigned to it and it makes connecting the lab import with the correct name MUCH faster. I am terrible about reading change logs so these are things I discovered as we have been using 6.3.3 the last day. This is one of the best updates in terms of substantive improvement in saving time that I have seen. Thanks again to the development team on this one!!

Glad to hear about the speed boost, Terry. Cat5E usually works at gigabit speeds as well. If you have Cat5e in place already, you should get a gigabit switch first before changing the wire to see if any of the computers actually operate below gigabit speeds. Imo, as long as you have the 350 MHz Cat 5e, you'll be fine.

Terry, from what version did you upgrade to 6.3.3 that you noticed such an improvement?

We changed the router switches several mos ago without much impact on the speed of communication over the network, but this recent update has done the trick.

David, We were using 6.0.3 (I think) before upgrading day before yesterday. It has been painfully slow with that previous version signing off on items and loading charts, particularly over the wireless. But whatever they did with 6.3.3 has radically improved speeds on the wired and wireless networks. Terry

Terry, Did you hear anything from AC or here on the board that the early versions of V6 (before 6.12) had issues with slowing for some significant portion of users?

I seem to remember some saying version 6 was slower than 5, but my associate across the hall was running AC 6 and having the same waiting issues both wired and wireless. He changed his network wiring to CAT6 and said the wait decreased by about 50%. We have made no network or server changes since version 5 when we started AC and whichever version before 6.3.3 we were using was slow. I thought one of the IT folks at AC I talked to mentioned some improvements in speed that were coming in newer upgrades. Having made no significant change in our hardware and software I can only assume that the upgrade to 6.3.3 was responsible for returning the client server environment of AC to a much more responsive system. That's all the data I've can think of.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for the reports!
Saying "version 6" is like saying "a little white pill", either cover a broad range of content.
v6.0.9, which we used about a year ago, was horrible. To say the least. I am not sure about any v6 below this.
v6.0.10 was better, 6.0.11 better still. We are using 6.1.2 now, which is reasonably fast and very stable.
I think, if one upgraded from 6.0.9 to the new version, one would see a huge difference. Upgrading from 6.1.2 to new may not be as big a difference.

Remembering the preferred pharmacy is worth upgrading. I've been waiting to see how the latest version is working for people. Some good news at least. Guess I have to upgrade sooner than later.

I cannot remember which version we were on as it was removed with the upgrade. We had upgraded once since the original version of 6 came out. We did not upgrade once the IT folks at AC wanted to schedule appointments to upgrade the version themselves. So I think we were on some 6.0.x version.

David got to the point by asking "which version were you on" and Gene's analogy is apt: "Saying "version 6" is like saying "a little white pill", either cover a broad range of content." My guess is you should only look for a significant speed improvement with 6.3.3 if you were already suffering from slowness ...
Remembering the preferred pharmacy is a plus. What about some other issues: How about the "can't delete an imported item without right-clicking first" bug? How about very slow opening of imported items (especially when the patient has a lot of them)?
Are these gone with 6.3.3?

I can tell you that the Imported Item folders are still wide open on version 6.33.
But otherwise it has been rock solid in our office since we installed it last weekend.

There appear to be more upgrades between 6.3.3 and our previous version than I was aware. We have been relying on AC to tell up when there is a new upgrade. Is there a way to stay on top of the upgrade deployment better? As far as I knew, 6.3.3 was only the second or third version 6 upgrade.

I wish amazing charts would be forthright and list known bugs on the website under issues. Probably would save time for guardians in long run.

Terry, Appreciate your input and just upgraded from 6.1.0 and have not played around much with it but did notice the imported items seemed a bit quicker at opening.

Very snappy!! My e-prescribing message area has zeroed out now as well. I agree, overall speed is better even from 6.1.0.

One issue I noticed is that I have a scansnap s1500 and my nurse can still scan into II but there is an additional two steps now, a page with a stop sign appears and a message appears to make sure app installed correct and next screen asks to delete scanned item and type in no and then it scans but there is a fine thin vertical line on the II that needs to be signed. Once I figure out the fix if anyone else is having problem will let you know otherwise the upgrade seems solid.
