Just wondering.... if we are to continue to be certified and MU levels met, will Amazing Charts have patient portals?

A patient portal for Amazing Charts is mentioned as a future project (see FAQs, under "Pricing/What are the hidden fees that will frustrate me later"). I also remember reading about a planned patient portal in one or Dr. Bertman's updates late last year, although I can no longer find his earlier update posts on the Board.

I think that the robust patient portals being offered by Updox, already tightly integrated with AC, and offering appointment scheduling, registration, patient data updating and bill pay, make it unlikely AC will need to proceed on their own portal. Just a hunch, I have no insider knowledge of AC plans.

I am asking, as the certification process to keep the MU up to date, would require it to be part of the AC program itself.

Why would one pay the extra subscription fee with Updox, if it will ultimately be a requirement within AC?

Not trying to get you to buy Updox. But Updox was the way several of us qualified for stage 1 MU Measure 14 (Electronic Exchange of Clinical Information). Although the electronic document (CCD) was generated by AC, HIPAA-compliant electronic transmission isn't a feature of version 6 Amazing Charts. So it is okay to use add-ons to AC to fulfill MU requirements, IMHO.

As far as stage 2 MU, core measure 10 & 13 requires "... online access to health information for more than 50% with more than 10% actually accessing" and "More than 10% of patients send secure messages to their EP". The Updox patient portal is integrated with AC, and will satisfy these two measures.

But again, AC may introduce the patient portal with version 7, if you can wait. (Break in on this thread anytime you want, Darryl@AC!)
