Hello everyone.

This started in another forum, but it seemed like it might also find a audience in this forum as well.

Originally I thought it would be great if Amazing Charts could send the Provider's test orders electronically to a Saas called 4medica. Its basically a paperless electronic order requisitioning system used by Laboratories and Clinics.
When the patient presents, the requisition is called up, fasting status, last dose, date and time of collection are documented, and then the requisition is sent/printed with integrated specimen labels. Then patient specimens are collected.

But now I am wondering if Amazing Charts could/should incorporate this Electronic requisitioning concept within its own program, Rather than sending it to another program (4medica)(which has a great user interface).

What would be Ideal:
1. Allow the providers to order in Amazing Charts as they currently do.
2. Amazing Charts could hold this electronic order as an unfulfilled lab order requisition. (status report for provider?)
3. When the patient presents at the clinic's lab, The IOP could electronically bring up the requisition and document the fasting times, last dose, date and time of collection and then "Send" the the requisition electronically to the Lab organization's LIS, and print out a paper requisition with integrated labels to go with the specimens, this would also update the requisition's status to "collected"
4. Once the results are returned Amazing Charts could show another status, such as "ready for review"?

Advantages:
A. Providers can continue to order laboratory test via their current workflow. (No new systems or steps)
B. Provider orders would be less susceptible to order entry errors.
C. Less paper is generated until the finial requisition with labels is printed just before specimen collection.
D. Patient would have to wait shorter times for Lab draws.
E. Providers (or appointee) could follow up and review the patient's current status regarding ordered labs.

I've done some of the imagineering here.
With some input and feed back from folks it could be honed into a great concept.
Once it has reached a plateau in the conceptual phase, Im confident that savvy software wizards could make it happen.

Thanks again for your feedback and input.
