I currently use paperport to mark up my faxes and send them where they need to go. One downside is that it is slow on the computers that are networked wirelessly.
Assuming price is no object, does updox seem faster for marking up and getting done with faxes than using paperport?

2. When I fax out records , sometimes it can be 80 pages. The current method is to use paperport but it will fax each imported item separately and therefore clogging the fax line. On Updox, can it fax everything out under one fax? I know updox allows 500 faxes on the basic plan. If I fax out an 80 page record using Updox, will it count as 80 or as 1?

Sure would be nice to know your name. You can stack all of your imported items that you printed to the Paperport desktop by highlighting them and then clicking the stack option on the toolbar. Then you can send the complete bundle out on one phone call. 80 pages will still take a long time to go through but I suspect that would be true of any system that uses a fax line. Also, although I am not an export on networking, I definitely prefer a wired system. Wireless seems slower in all functions.

Updox will charge you for each of the 80 pages against your monthly allotment.

You may want to consider getting a faxboard. Mainpine makes some nice ones.

Also, try to wire your workstations if possible. Everything gets faster and more reliable.

There is no way to .ZIP a fax, is there?

Do you mean compressing a fax? Or joining multiple files together?

Isn't that how it is? I get my faxes as multipage PDFs. I just got a 94 pager 2 weeks ago. Boy am I glad I got a fax board. Got an 80 page+ the week before that. I don't know if a Brother MFC can handle that. It does blow my mind that only 5 top faxes (out of the 3000 from the last 60 days) would take an entire ream of paper.

For sending I have many options, either printing to the "Fax" printer in windows or sending it via Outlook (something typically reserved for enterprise fax solutions like GFI Fax). Entire staff gets email confirmations for the faxes they sent. They don't have to worry about calling the other party. They preferred it coming into a folder as opposed to email so they can easily import it into a patient's chart with a simple drag and drop.

2. I am so swamped with paperwork and bringing work home every night. I am just wondering if using updox rather than paperport will make everything faster and I don't have to stay up late doing faxes. I am not talking about costs in this case. If I pay 50 dollars a month but I get home and get to not think about work, I don't mind doing it.

Updox is by the page. Doesn't matter if you send 80 one-page faxes or a single 80-page fax. It's the same thing. (Cost-wise).

What is exactly taking so much time? Is it marking up the faxes or sending the faxes?

It is hard to envision Updox without trying it. Take Sandeep's advice and sign up for a trial. As a test, I took a 27 page record from a patient's chart, sent it to Updox and faxed it. That took 4 seconds.
Then I faxed it and emailed it (both to myself, done at the same time). Another 5 seconds.

Granted, the email is not encrypted but that can be done in a variety of ways, including within Updox via the portal.

The fax costs 27 pages towards my Updox fee. The email costs nothing.

As Marty says, you can send it securely to other Updox users at no charge.

Might be interesting to use a faxboard as both the sender and the receiver. Print your marked-up UpDox files to the fax board and save money both ways. Although a faxboard is a competing solution, you could use them together.
