Hey Folks,
I was recently running some long overdue XP Pro updates and one of them is a SQL (I believe it said MY SQL like Version 4) update. Now when I see anything related to updating or changing SQL Especially on our Main P2P server tower I get a bit concerned as I don't want to mess up our well oiled AC working here. I seemed to remember a good while ago there being some discussion about XP and updates to V 5 or 6 and it being related to differences in SQL such as AC likes, needs to make use of an older version of SQL... And so those users that stayed up on their updates into XP SP3 were having Install and perhaps Other at the time foreseen problems and issues...

1) Is there truth to this and if so what???
2) Has this been updated and or Addressed in newer version and updates of AC since this was originally a problem?????

FYI, I did the updates in full on the NON-Server computers, laptops and old tower and AC fires away just fine, but I am still a bit concerned about applying it to our Main "Server" tower until I understand this a bit better....

Thanks Much,
Paul

I did all Microsoft updates on my main computer which has Windows XP Pro and AC 6.0.10. The AC 6.0.10 runs slower than the previous version, other than that there are no issues.

OK, Then HOW Slow??? I know this is a totally relative term but as someone who works in medical offices like we all do here, is it acceptable this added slowness or is it starting to reach a level of frustrating and annoying amounts of long pauses???? Thanks again,
Paul

Paul,

Just upgrade to 6.12. Also, the only way Microsoft Updates will offer anything My SQL or SQL Server would be if you had SQL on your computer. For instance, none of our client machines has SQL on it (only the server). Currently, SQL Server 2005 Express is up to SP4. So, that would be the update on the server. MY SQL is not Microsoft.

At first is was unacceptable slow. After trying many things, I disabled antivirus program on main computer and turned on Windows XP firewall on main computer instead. Seems like now it is "acceptable" slow.

Did you try disabling hardware acceleration on the clients?

I disabled hardware acceleration on all computers and it helped a lot. Thank you for advice.

Bert,
I'm so behind here on things. At times I still feel like I personally am living, trying to move in Gumbo Like Mud mentally I swear... It's like half the good has been taken out of me.

Anyway, I never knew that MY SQL was not a version of an MS Product. That is totally News to me, so thanks on both counts. I just got done optimizing the old database and now the last BU of that old database is running as we speak, so it shouldn't be too long now before I'm in the midst of starting our Install on the Main Tower here.... Send me good AC User Board vibes one and all.

Thanks and Be Well,
Paul
