How are people using AC with second office? Taking laptop out and bringing back in? Getting second license with second address and keeping everything separate? Thanks!

If you are using the same name of company and same Tax ID, you don't need a separate license. If you are planning to actually have a staff there needing to access AC, then your best bet BY FAR, is to have a real server in the primary office along with a separate Terminal Server. You can then use LMI or RDP to connect. Better off with RDP.

Well, things are quite that simple. If you use different databases between the two offices, NewCrop apparently requires a different license or charges an additional fee.
Thus we had to get a second license for our second office. I am reevaluating trying to merge them and use a system such as Bert described. Not quite there yet though.

As Bert has pointed out if you want to run it yourself, a second server running RDP would be the way to go - the goal being to keep all of the processing on the same physical network segment.
Another alternative is to run it in a hosted/managed environment and access that environment from both locations.
It comes down to what you want to do, how much of the tech you want to run yourself.

Thanks all! Currently run ADP from ipad to desktop in pt rooms and there is lag that I don't want staff to deal with. Also VPN from home then run remote desktop and there is lag there also. Eventually will have one office again after second office gets established so will be headache merging two licensed AC together. Will look more into this managed environment and see how much lag there is. Thanks again!

Combining the databases actually maybe difficult. It's better to keep one database and keep it organized. I agree with the others that Terminal Server/RDP is the way to go. Why would you run a VPN to connect to it, I'd believe that'd have a detrimental effect on performance. You are limited by the upload speed of the other office since when you join a VPN, your network traffic goes through that (all of it). Given that ISPs typically have lousy upload speeds, I probably would just use RDP directly. I'd have a hard time recommending a Terminal Server if you're not going to be at the other office long. Maybe you can grab an off the shelf desktop and "evaluate" Server 08 with a trial or something until you're settled.
