We currently use an older Dell laptop as our (frequently backed-up) main computer for AC v6. The doc takes charts home with her and so it's easiest to continue using a laptop. We'd like to replace the Dell, as it has graphics problems with the e-prescribing screen of AC, and it's just getting to be too slow and old. The problem: the Dell has the older near-square screen shape that works particularly well for AC's windows. To get anything like the same text size in the typical wide-screen aspect of all recent laptops would require a 17-inch monitor. Most 17" laptops are very heavy to carry around. Any suggestions (short of a smaller laptop with 2 docking stations/monitors - not good because she sometimes does charts as passenger in car)?
Thanks, Kurt

There are more square laptops although many are going more to the 16:9 ratio. You might have to look around.

On a desktop note, I recently purchased an HP all in one with Win7 Pro for $330 - $30 rebate. Worked well in the office. Not the fastest thing out there but good with AC, has a 20 (TWENTY) inch screen. Not portable though.

Wendell, Thanks for your reply. I haven't seen any square laptops in quite a while (years). Do you know a brand I could search for?
Thanks, Kurt

I just looked at Tiger Direct and didn't see one. Not sure if they are still being made.

You can find a used Lenovo Thinkpad T60 on eBay for $100-200.

The high end IBM or Lenovo Thinkpads have a fairly capable Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 2 GB memory, and should be able to handle Windows 7. Internal wireless is usually slower "g", but can be improved by installing an add on USB "n" adapter.

Unfortunately, there hasn't been a new 4:3 screen laptop made since 2007, I believe.
