I am considering creating a template to insert into the plan section of amazing charts, since we are supposed to print out at least 50% of these for patients for meaningful use. Steven in another thread suggested explaining electronic prescriptions to patients in the plan. I thought also listing upcoming office hours here. Any other ideas out there?

I am very unmotivated to print the clinical summary. Looking for ways to motivate myself and hope patients will find this piece of paper a little useful. Of course the RX list should be helpful to them.

We have been unable to get any charts to count in Core 13 of meaningful use.

This is the one for printing out clinical summary for patient. We have tried any combination of buttons, and still get zero for numerator. I print the summary from the "Print Patient Instructions" page, and click the button on the left side to print the meaningless CCR report. We print it out. Still numerator is zero.

We also tried printing from the summary sheet tab, which you can't do till after you've completed the note. Still zero in numerator.

Anyone else run into this? Any solutions?

Thanks,

I put a little blurb about the CCR and how I do not think they will find it very useful, I put a section about my webpage, facebook page and an electronic medical informtion site that I have available for patients.

I also have a paragraph about receiving labs, etc through a patient portal (Practicom PHR) and about the nominal cost for it.

I set my printer for double sided and just go down print letter with what I have in plan - check CCR and hit PRINT TO DEFAULT PRINTER. I was not motivated to do this either, but the MU dollars helped me.

I works for me. I just print instructions at the end of the encounter, before signing, and give it to the patient. It goes to a green okay and I have been watching the percent increase when I run the report in the meaningful use wizard up by the vital signs during the encounter.

Steve, this is a thread on the same topic with some info you might find helpful.
I was struggling with the same problem.

Thanks everyone for the feedback on the clinical summary MU Core 13 topic.

I seem to be doing what others suggest, and still nothing in the numerator in the MU report.

Could someone post the steps taken, including when the MU report goes "green", so I can troubleshoot?

Thanks a bunch,
Steve Hersch
