When an appointment is cancelled in AC is there a report or list in that patients charts that shows all of these dates?

When our office staff cancels an appointment they do not notify the doctor, only the DKNA are being sent to the providers. But when I open the patients chart I can't find were to view their appointment history. Is there such a thing?

Select patient on main page of AC. Click picture of binoculars under the list and hit "search appointments." History of patient's appointments will show up on the right. Is that what you were looking for?

That part is great, I wasn't aware of that. But it doesn't show the cancelled or no show appointments? I cant see them unless it is saved to the cart after being notified to physician.

When you staff cancels an appointment, they need to notify the provider. Then you need to save it to the patients chart. Otherwise, you won't have a list of their cancelled appointments.

In addition to what Wayne said, we generate a superbill for a missed appointment, along with the reason for visit. This is labelled as MA:(reason for visit). If you choose to charge for a missed visit, you can create a code and label it as such to bill to patient.

Chandra,
There are several ways you can handle DNKA's with AC, and each has its merits depending on what works for you.
I like to know who didn't keep an appointment or who cancelled, but I do not like to get a message every time that occurs. What I prefer is to look at the schedule at the end of the day and see who did not show or cancelled.
Now if your staff right-clicks the appointment and selects "Did not keep appointment (DNKA)", then the appointment is removed from the calendar AND from the binocular list I mentioned. So we don't do that; we edit the appointment. Create an appointment type "DNKA" in admin options, and when the patient does not show, the staff changes to that appointment type. I don't get a message about the DNKA (that is good) but I still see the appointment on the schedule at the end of the day so I can let the staff know to contact the patient if necessary (also good) AND the appointment is still in the binocular search function. It is often helpful to see a FULL visit history -e.g., when the patient has been in twice, but missed four visits!

I hadn't thought of that option Jon. Nice idea. Alice likes to have the chart documented that the patient did't keep (or cancelled ) the appointment, so she likes us to send her the message (so that she knows) and she then saves it to the chart. When you pull up the Past Visit History you can (well, hopefully not) see a long list of DNKA or Cancelled Appointments. Great for those HTN or DM2 patients that don't want to come in. Also lets you see a "habitual no-show."
