Under the demographics page, under primary insurance I by accident entered the patients insurance card number, not the insurance type.

Now when I go to add another patient, that number is in the drop down box. Is there a way to rid info out of the drop down boxes after you've entered in something by mistake?

Not sure about current versions, but if you removed all instances of incorrect spelling (including ID nubmers) it would be removed from the drop down. This was true up to version 4.

Not sure about V5 but we need to clean out our insurance companies. (How many ways can you spell Medicaid?????)

Wendell, we only have one Medicaid (most of our Medicaid patients are in MCO's, so the names are all different).
But we do have:
Balimore, Balitmore, Balimoe, Baltimoe, Baltimore.MD, BaltimoreMD, BaltimoreMC, BaltimoreQ, Baltimoron (yes, that is really in there!), Baltimre, Baltimroe, Balto, Baltomore, Batimore, Blatimore, Bltimore, and Blaltimore.

Please, no comments on my staff's typing skills...just tell me how to fix this stuff. It is like every little typing slip stays with you to haunt you forever.

So Wendell, I just tried your suggestion, but the error remains. I do a search and find the patient with the misspelling, then correct the misspelling, and save the new info. Is there some other step to get the error to stop showing up in the drop-down box? I am in V5.028.

I don't have an answer.

We must hire the same staff. They spell Chicago in several different ways, but there are probably more Chica go than Chicago because the space does not appear there and it will show up first with predictive typing.

Another error is stat 1L instead of IL. Looks the same in the AC font. Causes an error when you go to write an Rx.

I was one of those damn New Yorkers who went to college there. Listening to the locals, I always thought it was "Bawlmer"

Yes, John, we true Baltimorons pronounce it that way. And we don't dislike all New Yorkers; just the Y**kee fans.

I think I have it...following Wendell's lead, do what I describe above. It looks like you have to close AC completely (not just log-off) and when you go back in, the mis-spellings are gone from the drop down. No mo Baltimo.

You realize, spelling the name "Y**kee" will not protect the Orioles from the curse.

It is not about a curse. I spell it "Y**nkee" because it is best not to use profanity online. If you put in the **, then it doesn't get censored.

Is there any solution to the multiple insurance name errors? For some reason our office staff is fascinated with periods..... so BC./BS, B.C.B.S., B.C/BS are just a few. I just want BC/BS in there and have now idea on how to correct this either. Thanks for any help/suggestions.

John,

Now, really, if you live in Key West you have no right to complain, lol. smile

This has been an issue since time immemorial (sp?) or at least since AC first came into existence.

Crazy.

But, fine the thread on the survey and put it down there. I will make sure the developers see it.

Bert,

I do realize I can't complain too much about my situation smile. We do have scorpions...so that is a minus smile Just hoping there will be a solution down the road for the insurance demographics as like Jon said, it just is this constant reminder that we put something in wrong.

Do a search on an incorrect insurance name. That will give you a list of all the patients with that insurance. Then on all of them, you change it to the correct spelling. Once there are no more occurnaces of a particular incorrect insurance, it should dissapear off the list.

On what version, I know this used to work, but was under the impression it didn't work in version 5. I actually have not tried.

While the developers are checking the drop down box in insurance please have them check the Practice Rolodex also. The specialist box retains every item ever typed with no option of deleting the typos or duplicates. AND can we PLEASE search by specialists in the rolodex?

Wendell, it works in v5, and works just as YOU described early in this thread. The only addition is that for me to get it to work, I had to shut down AC and then restart.

I think we should have a user conference either in the US virgin islands or in key west....we have users there wink what doyou all think..how about in january or february!

wait so i have only 989 patients in my database..i need to go through there and find every freaking error to get it off the pull down menu? seriously seems like another issue that could be taken care of with one or two lines of code....

yes the complainers is back on here!

Ketan -- I'm all for a Key West conference! Nov. through April are all great months down here.

Wayne -- thanks for the tip! I'll try it with the beta 6 version and see if this works.

Like Jon,

I also had to exit out of AC and restart it.
