Sam,
I think the meds are there not to compete with looking at them through the script writer, but to have everything as a summary - to see everything on one screen. But, I agree that, in general, the summary sheet is sort of an afterthought and could be improved.
I thought about it a bit and even tried to document an injection you might do. Have you tried using the Alert and Directives section, which I rarely use anyway? I entered a date and then a medication such as Kenalog injection in the first field, then right knee in the second field. In the comments section, I wrote the reason for the injection and how the patient tolerated it, etc.
After saving it, and closing the editing window, it left a very nicely formatted description:
10/10/2007 Kenalog injection Right knee
You can add as many as you like, and it prints very nicely, albeit with the words Alerts and Directives above it. It does state when it was printed. And, when you click on it, you can see the comments that were written earlier.
Just a nice little workaround if you are interested.
