Well, I guess that says it all. Is there a certain place to sign up?

My theory is that this is "by invitation only" and if you have over 1000 posts on the forum, you are considered ineligible. You can ask Paul, Leslie, and Steven to see if they agree.

Pssssst, Buddy!

Here is an envelope; small bills, non-sequential. Hook me up.

Just a guess ...

Jon, I don't think your theory holds true.

Good guess, Indy.

Heck, I won't even download the latest real version, not to mention agree to be a beta tester!! I have to wait and read all the positives and negatives here on the board before I even think about jumping on board.

Bert,
Which part of my theory is wrong?
You mean the limit is wrong? Maybe over 500 posts excludes you!

I was kidding to some extent, but it does appear to be "by invitation", and it does not appear that many of the most active posters here are beta testers (though some very experienced users appear to be; this is not a knock at those who are beta testers).

No, I was saying that given you do not have 1,000 posts, you must be a beta tester.

But that is like the flawed logic of saying:

All dogs have hair.
All cats have hair.
Therefore, all cats are dogs.

(And no jokes on the above)

I agree with you. I would never install a beta on my real network. But, I would play with it in my sandbox, therefore being much more proficient when the real version comes out.

5.0.17 is a beta for now (I think), and I would use it.

I think beta testers should be some new users, but I would think that AC would get more benefit from more experienced users. An application such as what other companies do makes more sense.

I am sure that you can beta 5.17 by request. I was told it is near release when I was allowed to download. Location of download may even be in a thread. I like this beta.

Yes, it is on the web and is the default download. It has a lot advantages, but it has ruined the TSP800, so I can't see myself using it. Hopefully, as they have promised, it will be fixed in 6.0. If not, I will not be able to upgrade to that either.

Printing tamper-proof scripts to the TSP800 is extremely important to our office and, given the TSP800 and its paper is clearly advertised on the website, one would think it would not have been broken.

Has the "lost chart on messages" issue been solved yet? I can't believe AC would release 5.17 if that is still happening. Lost data is a nonstarter for me.

As I am always telling the powers that be, the biggest issue with AC is their lack of communication with the users. Even a monthly email (it doesn't need to be pretty) that states: "We are aware of the "lost chart on messages" issue and the "TSP800" issue. Should be fixed by such and such a time or with x version.

All you need to do is contact a tech person and let them know...if you have enough bug fixes to report they seem to let you beta test...

Well, contacting them with bugs only helps a small % of users who care enough to do that. The newsletter idea is the way to go, IMHO. They are certainly welcome to include any of my "brilliant" ideas and observations wink

But lets get some info flowing.

Well maybe Ketan is on to something. Some of us report an assortment of problems here on the board, but do not report them as bugs directly to AC. Maybe if we start reporting them, we would be offered beta testing.

It goes without saying that I agree with John.
And Bert.

Oh, by the way....only 4 hours left until the end of "this quarter". That means the V6 release will be out any minute. wink

And, I get to spend an hour of it on the phone with the ACUC planning committee.

Did you get my PM?
