Sorry...new user working out the kinks..
While notes are being signed properly, other things in AC are using my first name. I think this is because that is my user name...ex. printouts of addendums and adding of allergies...a little disconcerting to have this do this as an addition of allergy by "Neil" just doesn't look good. (I assume this is using my user name, could obviously be much worse!).
The tech guys said, create a new user name...but I don't want to delete all my templates that I just spent hours on....

For what it is worth, you should be able to export/copy your templates so that your "new you", or your other users for that matter, can access the same templates.

As Indy says, feel free to change your user name and then you can copy your templates from the old user (Neil) to the new one (Dr. Neil) all at once. This is done in one step at the bottom of the "Templates" screen accessed through "Set practice templates" in admin options.

Will I lose these if I delete the old user name?

tceg,
That is very interesting. Never been brought up before. Also ironic, since you won't change your nick on here so we don't have to call you tceg, lol.
First, anytime you do something that scares you, test it first. On a fake patient, make a fake imported item using your "Neil" name. Change your name and reboot. Then see if the imported item is still there.
Personally, I like my username Bert and am willing to put up with it. I would consider that as well.

On a whole different level, this is why a sandbox computer is helpful (one of the network you can play with) or even better, Virtual machine.
I don't possibly see how changing your username would affect your templates but best to test it first. Do you have a computer at home? Set up AC, restore with your backup, and fire away.

Will I lose these if I delete the old user name? No, I don't think you do. The way templates are stored/shared/added-deleted in AC is still a bit of a mystery to me; it is not as simple as it seems at first glance (at least to me). Every time you create a new user, it creates a set of templates for that user. So if you go in under admin and look at the list, you see templates for all your users. Create a new user, and that user has templates. Then copy the old templates as I described above. Even if you inactivate the old user, it looks to me like that user (and his/her templates) stay on the list. And Bert, you are right that this is an area where a sandbox or virtual machine is helpful. It is easy to set up a few dummy patients and there is a lot you can do with them. Set up a new user, though, and they are tough to get rid of. Like patients, they can only be inactivated, not deleted, and the old ones tend to keep showing up in funny places (like in templates, above).

Ok so tried it out. Added a new user and deactivated the old... Lost all the templates. Apparently there is some link. However as you can't delete users, you can reactivate the old ones. Hence reestablishing the temps. Wonder if there Is a way to externally transfer them..... Otherwise may just have to look at my old user name when logging in....

Have you tried using export to export them all to a .csv file and then changing your name and then reimporting. Again do this on a sandbox.

Notes, Addendum and Messages attached to chart are now signed with full name Neil, this is one of the additions in 5.1.6. Just thought you may want to know before doing all sorts of workarounds.

Neil, Sorry about the scare when you deactivated your user...I just checked again and when I go into "Admin" and "Set practice templates", all my deactivated users still have templates there.
Did you try my suggestion above? 1. Create a new user 2. Copy your templates from the old user (Neil) to the new one (Dr. Neil) all at once. This is done in one step at the bottom of the "Templates" screen accessed through "Set practice templates" in admin options.
