I was told this morning about this company by another FP in our area that is having good results. I reviewed the website and I was impressed and wanted to share.

Gee, seems that there is a trend toward fewer billing companies and clearinghouses, and a simultaneous trend towards more "Revenue Cycle Management" companies. The RCVs all tend to have much higher fees, set-up charges, and even sometimes an annual subscription fee. Granted, the RCVs do tend to do a little more.

Well, they did say one thing on their website that has grabbed my attention and now I"m giving them a second look.

Two words: OPEN SYSTEMS.

I think everyone here knows the significance of that these days.

I didn't see open systems, but I did see "proprietary"

Quote
Avisena’s proprietary collections technology is called the Reimbursement Management System.

I have to admit, I'm leary of any billing company these days. I've only used one that had been recommened here on this board, and it was a total disaster. (Yes, I did my due diligence, but apparently it was not enough. I know others have had problems with the same company).

I would really want to see a track record, how fast they return calls, who returns them, where are people working, and if they are overseas, what kind of communication will you have with them (we had a horrible connection) how well do they speak English (they didn't) and how well trained are they (they did not seem to understand that if they were not billing, I as well as they - were not getting paid).

I think it said proprietary techniques. I could be wrong. But there was a speil (did i spell that right) about not trying to force you to work with who they choose to work with, and you being able to work with them while selecting the best other companies/products to work with.

Avisena is open to you growing.
The best EMR doesn't have the best practice management solution. Avisena has adopted an open system philosophy that allows for a best-of-breed approach. Rather than restrict our clients with only one choice for an EMR, we want our clients to have unlimited options when it comes to growing their practice, adopting new technologies and implementing industry best practices. For instance, get the right EMR for you, your practice and your speciality. You should choose who you work with, not your vendors.

But they didn't give any examples. Could be smoke and mirrors.

The major drawback of this system is that it is essentially an ASP. Data does not reside with you. You have no control (except perhaps through entensive extended legal proceedings) to get your billing data in an usable format. So what if you inputed all of your financial data into this software and they stated that they were bought out by Emdeon and Emdeon is charging a $30,000 a year fee? Can you afford not to have access to your business data?

You have to have something to fall back on when the internet is not working. What happens when your subscription (currently free) runs out?

You know, I could create a website promising return on investment, prosperity, happiness, sunshine and eternal life?

As I said earlier, there seems to be an explosion of "Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management" companies.
