We are in the process of buying a billing software.
Please provide me with your recommended [color:#FF0000]number one[/color] advice for best billing software that is compatible with Amazing charts. TY

I think the lack of response means that none of us is wildly enthusiatic about our billing software. I use Advanced MD which works very well but the interface with AC is not cheap, some of the information does't flow from one data base to the other. AMD was also very expensive and the monthly cost is excessive. I got it at the time because my (then) office manager was being very demanding and that is the one she chose. I would not use it again and am waiting to see the PM part of AC before I make any decisions about changing my PM program.

When I first saw your post, I was tempted to say that my number one advice would be to wait for AC's practice management component which will be coming out at the end of the year. We out source our billing...for now.

I use CollaborateMD and am satisfied for the most part. The customer service is pretty good and they work diligently on all the issues we come across. You get to talk to a real person.

They just built an HL7 interface with AC for demographics and charges. This interface is good but it was built by Collaborate so it would be superb if I used Collaborate's built in scheduler. They built it and gave it to me without an extra charge. We've been using the interface for a week and my office staff think it's better than sliced bread. Double entry does get old.

The service is $150-200/month which you can definitely find cheaper but for me, that's my entire billing service cost. It does automatic eligibility, auto EOB apply, pretty much all the things that a newer PM system should do.

The interface isn't as intuitive as I would like but we taught ourselves in less than a week.

Agree that no PM system is perfect. There are too many insurances, too many states, too many rules, and too much variability for one system to be perfect. Even when AC comes out with their PM system, we'll keep Collaborate unless AC is head and shoulders better. Trying to learn a new PM system is painful.

I also used GE Centricity prior to now and don't recommend it at all, especially for smaller practices. It's rigid, expensive, and just not easy to use. Plus, it wouldn't send Medicaid claims in Arkansas so they had to be entered manually with Medicaid which was horrible. Definitely don't recommend it.

The two I have used are Medisoft and eMedware. When I set up practice, my practice manager had certain things she uses/used in other offices such as Muratec for copier and eMedware of billing. It is nice, because it is relatively inexpensive and easy to use. The biggest benefit was that we had a lot of help from the other offices who used it.

So, maybe one thing you can think of is not only ask other offices in your area for advice, but if you have other offices you are close to (not proximity) that you can ask questions while you are using it, it can be helpful.

Did you also use amd ehr ? How much were you being charged by amd? I also had to change biller person and the new person (local) also uses amd. I dont want ehr at this point, i am happy with ac. I am not ready to outsource billing without seeing the biller face to face 1-3 times a week.
