With a certain amount of trepidation, I make this post (the first one I've actually started) because it seems like several folks didn't get to ask me what they wanted after the presentation.

Like Bert, I don't want to offend anyone, but I inadvertently ended up going off and helping a user with their new laptop for a chunk fo time.

Now, it is entirely possible that some folks just wanted to know where I got my hat, or they don't visit the board, but just in case, here is a post where you can ask away.

Per some suggestions after Martin & I did our talk, I'll be working on some ways to address the questions/topics that got asked without cluttering up the board.

Is there such a thing as clutering the board? You mean this board? We use this board all the time. Since we started using AC we have had 99% of our questions answered by searching the topic on this board. Problems either get solved or recognized as a common issue or maybe bug. How could it be cluttered. The more info the better. I found Martin's talk to be especially useful to my practice. My IT guys were more interested in you, Indy. I will probably search on docmartin's comments/posts when I have a slow time and what to start improving my use of AC from patient care perspective. Right now I'm just focusing on getting the eprescribing up and running and using tracking features. I had to miss the health maintanence session on sunday and would be interested in hearing more about that or seeing the video if it was recorded.

Two things, I would be reluctant to ask a question on the board ( exposing my DEEP ignorance about the topics you covered) and also reluctant to send a PM ( figuring that it is not fair to ask for free advice outside of the ACUC). I took notes in order to ask my IT guy some questions.

Deborah,

I cannot disagree more. I feel rather confident in my IT abilities, but I am nowhere near the level of Indy. Even if your question did show ignorance (which I doubt it would), others who feel the same way would benefit.

My sense is that Indy, Martin or anyone for that matter would welcome a PM. And, I wouldn't even say it is outside the board. PMs are really for two things. To have a little fun with a friend on here commenting on things that you certainly couldn't comment on the boards. But, it is also to ask questions or favors or for help in just these situations.

I have quite a few IT people I email from time to time. I always inform them that if I go a little overboard with my questions and they feel I am infringing on their time, to please tell me. They all say the same thing. If I get a little tired of your emails, I will just not return them for awhile. So, we can always ignore the PM, although I find that highly doubtful.

The reason you have Martin and Wendell and Indy and me and Leslie and Carolie and Benjamin, Wayne and Ryanjo to ask questions of is because we all love being on the board and helping others and, in turn, being helped.

Besides, you have much more to offer than you think. And, I still may PM you and run a GYN case by you as obtaining Gynecology consults in Bangor can be tough for pediatricians. smile

Bert - you crack me up! I've been dipping into the boards tonight because the data center I'm in tonight is busy with a whole bunch of server upgrading going on, but the hardware makes poor company.

I will say this; in 20+ years of speaking at conferences (for love or money) ACUC 2010 was peopled with the most engaging, pleasant, thoughtful and interesting folks that I have ever had the pleasure to present to - Jim, Martin, and you told me that it was a unique group of people, and it exceeded even those expectations!
