I understand that labs are requested through either printing a lab request and having the patient take that request to a lab and then the results return within Amazing Charts. That, or it can be faxed over to the lab and then reported through AC.
It would be much more intuitive and simple to use if a fax option were embedded within the lab request module. There are online services that offer to fax an electronic document to another fax machine or another electronic fax receiver.

I think if a fax button were embedded within the lab module, it would save steps of printing it out and either giving it to the patient or faxing it via standard faxing methods.

The other request (which I am not sure if it has been brought up), is the ability for scheduling to automatically come in from an external PM system (for example, Advanced MD PM) via HL7. It would only need an inbound interface that automatically duplicated the schedule into AC from Advanced MD. Does AC accept inbound scheduling via HL7? If so, can this interface be built, including all of the other features that normally comes through x-link?

I am not sure how a physician would know what patient is next on the list through AC unless he opens Advanced MD to look at the schedule, something that should be fixed for better functionality. Thanks for all your help!

It doesn't accept scheduling via HL7 I don't think, but you can import a daily schedule from AppointmentQuest.

You actually can directly fax out of AC if you use a fax modem on your computer. We do that for records releases commonly.

If you have it set up on a server, it can serve all the computers otherwise, it would only be the individual fax modem on a specific computer.

An option we use to electronically fax, is our Dell 1815 printers. They came with Dell Fax Wizard software and each one has a built-in print server. We simply select Dell 1815 Fax from the link after installing the software and input the fax number and the info for a cover sheet. It works great for us.

Edit- Since this is a network printer we can all fax from it at any time and only need one fax line.

For full disclosure, do you have a website called:

http://priorityclaims.com/index.htm

Do you currently have an HL7 interface to Amazing Charts?

THIS INFORMATION IS FROM YOUR SITE:

Advanced MD® Practice Management demographics software and EDI solution at no cost
HL7 databridge licensing fees at no cost
Installation and implementation of hardware and software at no cost
Training for all physicians, nurse practitioners and office staff at no cost
24/7 unlimited local on-call and unlimited local on-site support at no cost.

3,000 dollars allowance per physician, for Network router(s), switch(es), server(s), Cisco networking and any additional needed hardware for support of Amazing Charts® EMR

OR:

Entry-level network router(s), switch(es), server(s), Cisco networking and any additional needed hardware for support of Amazing Charts® EHR, at no cost; whichever is greater.

Software maintenance, updates and upgrades at no cost, with a 1 year commitment agreement with Priority Claims billing services

OR:

Software maintenance, updates and upgrades at FULL cost, with a month to month commitment agreement with Priority Claims billing services; only after the initial 1 year commitment has been fulfilled.

WHAT DOES THAT COST THE INDIVIDUAL USER?

Allow Priority Claims to provide Full Revenue Cycle Management at 8% of all billing transactions and claims for 1 initial year. No other fees, period.

This doesn't seem to include the billing portion, e.g. your company doesn't do outside billing. Just collects 8% of the billing.

SYSTEM DESIGN:

We plan to install and maintain a robust, central computer (with RAID 1 support) that will house your Amazing Charts Database. The database is managed by Microsoft SQL server express. From there, client computers with connect with the central computer via a wireless network (wired networks will be used if lines have been preinstalled in your office). All of your data will be syncronized (sp?) together from each computer on the central computer.

This central computer will be located in a secure location at your office. You can be sure that your files are kept safe and confidential at your location. Your database of patient demographics and charts will be backed up remotely to an Amazing Charts server warehouse in Texas. We can also backup all of your data on-site on an external hard drive. If your main computer ever goes down, we will be there to replace it, for free, as long as you are within the contract period. Your data can then be restored to the last date of restored data.

SO IS THIS SAYING YOUR COMPANY SETS UP A CENTRAL SERVER WITH RAID 1 ONSITE? IS THIS SAYING YOUR COMPANY OFFERS OFF-SITE BACKUPS TO YOUR EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES?/

Finally, you state you will be there to fix it. Your company is in California. How do you get to sites on the east coast?

Bert, I am amazed at how you figured this out, but I am glad.
