I recently upgraded my computer (still XP Pro)and also changed the computer that is the "server" (peer to peer still) and now when I use the spell check (Wspell) I am unable to add words to the dictionary. When I try to add them I get an error message " Can't add to user dictionary. File may be read-only or disk may be full"
Also the words I had previously added to my dictionary while using the old computer are no longer available.
Is the user dictionary stored on the local computer?
Where is it stored?
Can I copy it from my old computer to the new one or have to retrain it?
What is causing the error?

Thanks

The file is called userdic.tlx, and it is specific to the computer you are on. So, if you add "resonance" on a computer, it is useful for that computer. If you still wish to have those words, you will need to go and find those files, which you may have written over.

As far as the other, it sounds like a permissions and/or security issue. When you share, make sure everyone has Full Control, Change and Read. And, under security, make sure that all users have read/write permissions.

Yes changing the network security and sharing options fixed the problem. I had been troubleshooting and found the dictionary file and it was not read-only but the AmazingCharts folder was marked read only. i could not change the status until I went to the permissions area for sharing and that fixed it.
Have not tried using my old dictionary file on this computer yet.

Thanks again

Is there a way to directly edit the dictionary file?

I'm sure there is, but I haven't been successful at it.
