How does your office handle power outages? When our lights go out, we are done!! With a storm that blew through here this winter and the associated ice, we were without power for three days. How do you handle it? Dave

In Florida we use portable generators (lightning, hurricanes, etc.). Obviously, it wouldn't work in an upstairs office in a large building, but if you are on the ground floor, you can roll it outside, start it up, and run some essential lights, refrigerators, computers, even a small AC unit, with a 3,000 to 5,000 watt unit. Some of the Honda generators are super quiet. You need an electrician to install a "transfer switch" on your fuse box, so you can hook up the line from the generator to selective circuits of your inside wiring, rather than running extension cords.
