I wanted to upgrade to V4 today after office hours and ran into possibly one issue to be troubleshooted or resolved by AC Tech Next week. They tried to help but this error requires The HeadTech Mr. Carlos to look at, that is gonna take place on Friday next. Until then I am back on V3.715.
Here is what happens...
I start the installation process and when the program is configuring the SQLServer, it fails 3 out of 6 tasks (shown in the window). 1) The First one is MSXML6....I beleive this to be the offending one. Log file shows a bunch of garbage but it also shows MSXML6 service pack 2 that may have something to do with the XP pro servpack 3 operating system on my machine.
2) SQL Setup support files .....successful 3) SQL Native client ........successful 4) SQL VSS writer.........successful 5) SQL Server Database services.........failed 6) Workstation components, books online.......failed
I am not sure if anyone else has encountered the same, but I know couple have seen somewhat similar or close to this error.
I will welcome any feedback on this particular issue and if someone has fixed it already and don't mind sharing the fix.
Thanks, hob

Gkfan...thanks for the info. I will try to use this fix and see if I am successful or not.
BTW...did you see this error in relation to Amazingcharts upgrade or somewhere else? I assume you saw it somewhere else as this is not an Amazingcharts issue rather it is a specific environment related problem.

It is not an AmazingCharts error. MS has known about this for a while.

Katie,
What is on your machine? Win xp service pack 2 or 3, mine is 3 What is the AC version you tried with? is it 4.59 or 4.60 (th elatest one).
I am plannin gto try with AC v4.60 sometime this week and hope to be trouble free.. AC support think that my original issue should be resolved in 4.60....we will find out soon. However, I would like to know if you have the same Windows and AC as mine or is it different. Thanks, HOB

I have successfully upgraded to AC v4.0.60 on Win xp Service Pack 2 (our main) and other machines of the same and Vista Bus., Vista Home Basic laptops. All are working well since yesterday.
NOTE: If for any reason you have Windows XP Service Pack 3 installed, you won't be able to install SQL Server on it as there is a known MS bug conflicting between MSXML 6 and SQL Server Express 5. My MAin computer had Service pack 3 and was running into this problem. AC support people did look at it and thought AC v4.0.60 may have fixed it, but IT DID NOT...the issue remains and I have notified it to them. However, by removing Service PAck 3 from Windows get you going with the process, and that is what I did as I really don't know what I am missing without SP3...probably not a whole lot.

Only about four things one of which is on Vista. You probably won't miss them. SP3 is basically all of the updates from SP1, SP2 and all after rolled into one plus the four additional updates. This makes it much easier to roll out a new XP disk.
While it contains all of the updates, Microsoft recommends that you install SP1 first, if you are starting from scratch.

I am planning to do the update this week But I have Win XP service pack 3 on the computers. Should we wait for a fix from AC (update) or try what HealthObama did, and by the way how do you go back from Service pack 3 to Service pack 2. Are we going to lose some key security upgrades/features?

SP3 is everything plus a few fairly inconsequential security updates. There are only four new updates. Removing SP3 will only remove the four extra updates. You can remove it from Add/Remove programs.
Personally, I would try it with SP3. I know I read what H. O. wrote, but is that confirmed as a bug -- not being able to install with SP3? Sorry, if that is misleading. Try it with one computer. If you don't have VM, the new Acronis Home -- I think version 11 has this really cool feature on it where you can do anything and test it before clicking a button to make it permanent.

I tried the upgrade and was unable to septup the SQL Server, same erros mentioned above. I am affraid that the Win XP SP 3 is the issue just like HO stated. I had to go back to v3.7 which thanks God was easy to reinstall.
