The $60/month is for "QuickBooks Assisted Payroll" where we enter in the hours and rates, and they do the calculations. They then send us the numbers which we use to automatically print out the checks and they pay off all biweekly taxes due. The Quickbooks software was sold to me for a nominal amount with the 2009 upgrade included for free. Not a bad deal!
I used to use PayAmerica for payroll for 18 years and they pretty much did the same for about 3 times the price and anytime that I needed an extra copy of an end-of-year report I would get billed another $200 for the "extra service". They had no web presence for assistance. When they royally screwed up my taxes after I incorporated my office and got a new Tax ID, I finally switched over to something else (Intuit payroll).
I'm delighted, now finishing up my second year with this company. I would use their software for PMS, but I do it through MS Access directly... I'm just used to doing it that way. The Quickbooks software, though, is very thorough, i.e. more that I could ever want.
