Windows 8.1 is coming out with an update soon.

For me, it was moving from Win7 to 8.1 that solved my AC memory problems, but I'm the ugly duckling around here.
You might be able to get a good used XP Pro box cheap real soon.
You might update all your drivers, reinstall Windows, reinstall AC, go back to 6.3.3.
Until this is figured out, I would close and restart AC after every or every other patient.
