I guess they figure not many customers will hang out on user boards.
It is true that you can categorize people based on their profession. And, THIS is only because those same people told me. A friend I use for networking (Microsoft MVP, etc., etc.) every so often fires back an email screaming at me. The next day he apologizes and bases it on the fact that IT people, especially networkers, have very few social skills. My developer is a great guy, the smartest programmer I have seen but some times people skills....now those who gravitate to support have an entirely different skill set of communication skills. They would handle the questions the developers find irritating deftly and make the customer feel smart for asking them.
So, that is why they go online and vent. Not great sales sense, but they are developers and couldn't care less and only answer to Steve Ballmer. And, if you have seen Steve Ballmer in action...
